Pop singer Adele celebrated the U.K. release of her new album, 21, last night with a live acoustic show at the Taberbacle in London. The performance aired by live webcast on her website adele.tv. The album will not reach the U.S. until Febraury 22, but can be preordered here.
With 21, the singer delivers a blues and rockabilly influenced album with less of a rough edge than her previous release. This obviously cathartic breakup album is not to be confused with her debut album, 19, where she played the victim of a different heartfelt breakup when she was just 19 years old.
"Rolling In The Deep", the first single and track on the album, is an in-your-face breakup song with powerful vocals. The song currently sits at No. 2 on the U.K. music charts.
She attributes a Wanda Jackson as a major influence for style on 21. The 73-year-old Jackson coincidentally released her new Jack White-produced album The Party Ain’t Over on the same day.
In a December interview with MSN, Adele claimed she reached popular success in the States after her performance on "Saturday Night Live". She attributes the impromptu visit of Sarah Palin, which made the episode one of the highest rated "SNL" shows in years, as the reason for the widespread exposure. Adele also met producer Rick Rubin during the taping, who went on to produce 21.
