The Beastie Boys are pushing back the release of their heavily anticipatedHot Sauce Committee Part 1. The follow-up to 2007’s instrumental record The Mix-Up was initially intended to be ready late last year, but the production was forced to be put on pause last summer when Adam Yauch had to undergo emergency surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
Good news from the Beasties’ camp lately has been regarding Yauch’s health, but today the group’s website offered some insight into what’s happening on the musical front. This is the lone white-on-black message on their website right now:
“ALTHOUGH WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT ‘HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 1’ WILL CONTINUE TO BE DELAYED INDEFINITELY, ‘HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 2’ WILL BE RELEASED ON TIME AS ORIGINALLY PLANNED IN SPRING OF 2011.”
There you have it. Part two of the Hot Sauce Committee series can be expected early next year.
Here’s to MCA’s continued recovery and the release of new Beastie Boys records well into the twenty-second century.
And because I can't resist...
