Beirut is set to tour this summer and fall with North American and European dates that include multiple festivals, including Bonnaroo. In their first tour in years, the band, led by Zach Condon, will be joined by Arcade Fire in a London performance and play with the National in Italy. Fellow 4AD artist Twin Sister will also open on a few North American dates in June.
The group will also be featured on the upcoming compilation album, Red Hot + Rio 2, out on June 28. Proceeds benefit the Red Hot Organization, which raises money for and awareness of the fight against HIV/AIDS. The organization in the past released gripping compilations No Alternative and Dark Was The Night, to which Beirut also contributed. Now, they are paying tribute to Brazilian Tropicália of the late 1960s, which combines combines traditional with funk, jazz and politics.
Beirut hasn't released a record since 2009's March of the Zapotec and Holland EPs, but a new record is on the way, expected to be released this year via Ba Da Bing.
