Justin Vernon has been busy releasing just about anything but new Bon Iver material in the four years since he self-released For Emma, Forever Ago (which was soon picked up by Jagjaguwar and 4AD). There was the Blood Bank EP in early 2009, but would come to be eclipsed by his albums with Volcano Choir and Gayngs, his production work, and a little collaboration with the biggest rapper in the world. Today, however, finally brings news of a proper Bon Iver follow-up. The self-titled sophomore album will be released June 21, again through Jagjaguwar and you can see the track list below; the cover art, above, is by Gregory Euclide.
Bon Iver regulars S. Carey, Mike Noyce, and Matt McCaughan all appear on the album, which was recorded and mixed by Vernon and his brother at their own studio, a former veterinary clinic, in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. New to the fold are Volcano Choir's Jim Schoenecker and Tom Wincek, pedal steel player Greg Leisz, and accomplished saxophonist Colin Stetson.
