If you haven't heard of the guy-girl duo, honeyhoney, you're not alone. This may soon change thanks to the group, led by Ben Jaffe and Suzanne Santo, taking off on a U.S. tour starting April 29 with world music artist Xavier Rudd.
Before heading on the road the band landed a residency at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles with a free show every Monday in March.
Their debut album, aptly named First Rodeo, was released on election day in 2008 by Ironworks Records, a label owned by Jude Cole and "24" actor Kiefer Sutherland. Honeyhoney is an impeccably good-looking set that hails out of Los Angeles' Westside. Before pairing up musically, the two lived a seemingly typical L.A. existence with Santo as a part-time actor and Jaffee composing music for Nickelodeon cartoons.
A self-proclaimed bluegrass band, honeyhoney feels more Tarantino in the Kiefer Sutherland directed "Little Toy Gun". The director makes a cameo in the Western-themed video, which pays homage to Nancy Sinatra, and has more than a sprinkling of influence from "Kill Bill", according to an interview with Santo.
The Bootleg residency started March 7 with a timely New Orleans jazz band, and will continue with special guests throughout the month. The full complete list of U.S. tour dates is below, along with the "Little Toy Gun" video.
