The National are set to release an expanded edition of High Violet on November 22. The New York powerhouse’s excellent fifth LP, released just this past summer by 4AD, will be paired with a bonus disc that features two new tracks, two B-sides, and three live songs, as well as an alternate version of album-opener “Terrible Love”. On the same day, 4AD will be releasing the “Terrible Love” 7”, featuring one of those aforementioned new tracks, “You Were A Kindness,” on the B side.
The brooding and determined new record has garnered tremendous critical praise for the Brooklyn-based quintet, and even debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. They have been touring steadily behind it since it dropped in May. The National finishes an American tour in Denver on October 18, and will take a break before venturing off for a European tour with Phosphorescent in November, many dates of which are already sold out. They’ll be spending the first two weeks of 2011 in Australia, and hopefully will consider a vacation afterwards.
