Nick Cave has announced that Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds will be putting out a new album next year. Now, they just have to write it. Cave told Spinner, "I haven't written anything yet, but that's not how I go about things anyway. I have the starting date for the next record and that's when I go into the office and start it.”
Cave is currently on the road with Grinderman, whose second album, Grinderman 2, hit shelves in September. He spoke highly of his time with the side project and its effect on his longtime group. “After we finished the first one and saw the response to it and saw the rejuvenating effect it had on the Bad Seeds, it made sense to continue. It's like having a mistress: It has the ability to reinvigorate the Bad Seeds or destroy the Bad Seeds. I think it's put a spark of life back into the relationship."
Speaking of Grinderman, they played Grinderman 2's opening track, "Mickey Mouse and The Goodbye Man", on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" last week, and it was awesome. Check it out below.
When it exists, the follow-up to Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! will be the Bad Seeds’ fifteenth record.
