Michael Azzerad's classic chronicle of '80s punk and indie music Our Band Could Be Your Life: Scenes from the American Indie Underground 1981-1991 turns ten this year, and to celebrate he's throwing a huge show at New York's Bowery Ballroom on Sunday, May 22. Each of the thirteen bands covered in the book will be covered onstage by contemporary indie rockers, and the line-up so far is pretty droolworthy:

Missing from this list are Hüsker Dü, Mudhoney, Beat Happening, and Mission of Burma, so there are still a few more to be announced. If the rest of the announcements are even half as intriguing as imagining Wye Oak take on Dinosaur Jr's bombastic shredding or St Vincent tackle the chainsaw-to-yr-head stylings of Big Black, they're something to look forward to.
