Long Beach, CA's Press-Telegram is reporting, and Billboard and TMZ confirm, that Nate Dogg died yesterday, March 15, at the age of 41. The Long Beach-born R&B singer and rapper's cause of death has not been confirmed. The article mentions that Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel D. Hale, suffered two strokes in 2007 and 2008 and has since been in poor health.
Nate Dogg was an integral figure in '90s G-Funk hip-hop, making his debut on Dr. Dre's classic 1992 album The Chronic. He would go on to collaborate with many rappers, including Tupac Shakur, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and his cousin Warren G, with whom he recorded one of the definitive tracks of the G-Funk genre, "Regulate". He released several solo albums, his last a self-titled LP in 2003.
