The Smiths weren't around very long -- only about five years -- but their output was substantial and, of course, intensely influential to the sound of the last twenty-five years of alternative music. Never before, though, has their body of work been so physically substantial: in October, Rhino will release The Smiths Complete - Deluxe Collectors Boxset, a huge box set containing CD and 180-gram LP editions of the band's four albums, three compilations, and one live album, plus twenty-five 7" singles, all of it remastered from the original tapes by Johnny Marr and Frank Arkwright. Other goodies include a poster featuring all the artwork, art prints of the album covers, a DVD with all the band's music videos, an LP-sized booklet with liner notes, and a download code. It comes with a pricetag that matches its physical heft: £250 ($407.50). Only 3,000 sets will be available worldwide. LP- and CD-only boxes will also be available at £150 and £40, respectively.
