Sonic Youth offered up a free mixtape on their website this morning that includes tracks from their upcoming soundtrack to French mystery film “Simon Werner A Disparu” (“Lights Out” in the U.S.), which will be released as entry number nine in the SYR series. Elsewhere on the tape are Daydream Nation-era demos, including some solo Lee riffing, and an acoustic rendition of “Star Power” that they played in a 2009 episode of “Gossip Girl”. The “Simon Werner A Disparu” soundtrack will be available for download next Tuesday, January 25, on Midheaven.com. The CD and LP hit shelves February 15 and March 1, respectively, and can each be pre-ordered here.
