Sub Pop Offering Scholarships to High Schoolers

Seattle indie mainstay Sub Pop Records is offering scholarships to young artists in Washington and Oregan. The program will be doling out three prizes totaling $13,000 to high school seniors enrolling in a full-time college program. Says the label's website, "We are looking for an applicant who is involved and/or interested in music and/or the creative arts in some way." The application requires a one-page essay about one or more of these topics:

    - What are you doing in the arts/music field in your community?
    - How and/or why did you become interested in artistic outlets?
    - How would this scholarship money help you to progress in your chosen field?
    - What are your influences and/or who inspires you?
    - Who are some of your favorite bands or artists?

If you're about to graduate high school and are looking for scholarships, this is almost certainly the most fun you're going to have doing it. Applications are due by May 15. Visit Sub Pop's website for the all the details.
