Wolf Parade has told Spinner and their fan site that they will be going on “indefinite hiatus” following a few 2011 shows. Spinner reports that co-frontman Spencer Krug told a Toronto audience on Friday, “This is the last show we’ll play for a long time.” Other co-frontman Dan Boeckner later confirmed Krug’s statement to the fan site. Before the show, he announced plans to start work on a new Handsome Furs record in January with his wife and Wolf Parade’s Arlen Thompson, who spoke about needing a rest after a hard year.

Wolf Parade’s newest LP, Expo 86, was released this summer. That Toronto show was the last date of their North American tour supporting it, and Handsome Furs will be exploring Eastern Europe for nearly three weeks starting tomorrow.
