Autolux Are (Finally) Back with "Transit Transit"

Taking one’s time is important. You hate to rush things. Can’t hurry perfection. All good things must wait. Everything in its time.  Yeah yeah yeah – six years is still a crazy long time to wait for a record!!! An especially long wait for those who latched onto LA trio Autolux’s debut Future Perfect way back yonder in 2004.  In the ensuing years, of course, music consumption has gotten only more blink-and-you-missed-it, here-today-gone-this-afternoon – so you’d think, out of sight, out of mind for Autolux. But they weren’t totally out of sight – surfacing from time to time to make a TV appearance, collaborate with others like UNKLE, or play the odd festival, including a well received gig at last year’s All Tomorrow’s Parties.

It’s hardly your standard schedule but for whatever reason, it seems to be working for Autolux, perhaps because – as one music scribe recently suggested - the band’s  throwback sound was in ’04 a little ahead of its time, predating by a couple of years the more recent craze for the days of gaze. In any case, the time seems ripe – if not beyond so – for the über long-awaited sophomore record Transit Transit. Autolux’s latest has apparently been finished for some time – some of the songs date back at least as far as 2008, and the album originally was set for release in January of this year, only to be pushed back eight more months.

All so much water under the bridge now – as Autolux are back and that is cause for celebration. Or is it? You tell us – listen to Transit Transit – write a review and give it a rating! C’mon. This record is six years in the making. You owe it at least that much, right?
