You can keep your Brad and Angie, your Jay and B, Nicole and Keith, Alicia and Swizz, yada yada. No couple in our book beats Bethany and Nathan. The fact that they’re together only makes the story better. Apart, they would (presumably) still be making, with their respective bands, some of the freshest and most affable pop music on the planet. They first met at 17, kinda-sorta dated over a summer, split for a while, then got back together, with Nathan eventually moving into the Eagle Rock, CA pad shared by Beth and that ubiquitous orange critter who has his own Twitter account. Speaking of which, both Cosentino and Williams are among the more entertaining and active tweeters around, especially when they are on the road, as they have been – together – for the past month on Wavves and Best Coast’s “Summer is Forever” tour.

Having traversed the country, the two are now back on their beloved west coast, about to wind things up on the 26th in San Francisco. But we caught up with them a couple of weeks back, when they were enduring our freezing New York temps and mounds of grey snow and slush, and were good enough to agree to a rare on-camera chat together. Among the topics: touring together, living together, that cat, Best Coast’s rapid rise, and drugs. A spirited little back in forth on drugs, as a matter of fact. Fun stuff, with America’s fun couple on Face Time - Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino and Nathan Williams of Wavves.
