He’s baaack, almost anyway. The “he” in question would of course be Bradford Cox, the insanely talented and prolific musician behind Deerhunter and Atlas Sound and numerous other projects and blog posts, once as known for his mercurial nature and lack of rhetorical editing as his music, now basically just one of the more gifted gents of his generation. Because Bradford seems to rarely go three months with out some new release, the ten months between Atlas Sound’s last album Logos and Deerhunter’s upcoming Halcyon Digest (out Sept 28th) seems like an eternity.
But the impending return of Deerhunter and the recent launch of a fan-friendly, rather nostalgic site the band devised to promote Halcyon Digest, seemed like the perfect time to look back to the last conversation Noisevox had with the band – and we do mean the band. It’s a rare sit-down with all four members of DH – Moses Archuleta, Josh Fauver, Lockett Pundt and of course the inimitable Mr. Cox - almost exactly a year ago, for an episode of Noisemakers on Noisevox.
They were in great spirits, about to wind down the most successful year in the band’s history, following Microcastle and the EP Rainwater Cassette Exchange. In addition to one of the more entertaining conversations in Noisevox history, you’ll hear live performances of “Little Kids”, “Never Stops”, “Fluorescent Grey” and the Atlas Sound song “Criminals”.
Looking forward to their return and looking back a year ago – here’s Noisemakers on Noisevox with Deerhunter.
