“It’s not our brains on LSD, it’s t-r-o-u-b-l-e” sings the incorrigible Jennifer Herrema, in “TV Trouble”, from the recently released Black Bananas debut Rad Times Express IV, a record that essentially picks up where RTX left off, and takes things in a bit funkier direction. Though no less rad, or raw.

Particularly raw is the meat—chicken, it appears—featured in “TV Trouble”’s new video, it gets handled, prodded, and ripped, and finally serves as, well, something of a self-pleasuring lubricant for a Neanderthal-looking type. Oh, but that’s just a tiny bit of this walk on the wild side, which comes from the fertile mind of frequent Animal Collective auteur Danny Perez. Whereas ODDSAC, for instance, was somewhat impressionistic though, there’s no mistaking the images in “TV Trouble”. Let’s see. Lots of copulating, bovine, equine, reptilian. Weed, served up via bong and gas mask. Dildos, in a fair selection of colors and sizes, boobies and pecs, and while no actual dick, there’s a large pink facsimile which is ridden like a bull. There’s a workplace meltdown, some sniffing of especially soiled panties, car chase wipeouts. And that about covers it. Pretty damn visceral, base, id-driven, rutting, animalistic stuff. Which would seem to be the point.

So if feels like you brain on LSD, we forgive you, but Jennifer reminds us, it’s just “TV Trouble”. Our NV Music Video of the Day, from Black Bananas.
