We'll have some of whatever Jack Kubizne is on. We already knew, from his work with Animal Collective and Avey Tare, that Kubizne was one of the trippier, more original animators out there. But he's outdone himself with this trippy tale of a hoodied little loner (and we know how dangerous hoodies can be), his action-figure companion, and a school bus mishap tha lands our little hero on an island that may have you thinking Dr. Moreau, Cast Away, Planet of the Apes or 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's missing-link bizarre, and it's one of the most dazzling clips we've seen in a while.

As for the song, you might say it's Dylan Baldi's last pop hurrah, a missing link itself between the jangly sweetness of Cloud Nothings' 2011 self-titled and this year's detour to the heavy side with Attack on Memory. A finer single you'll be hard pressed to find as the weather turns warmer. A more dazzling animated music video you're unlikely to see this year. That's enough to hand NV Music Video of the Day honors to Cloud Nothings, and "Stay Useless."
