Normally we're not big on firearms in videos. We'll pretty much avoid em at all costs. But (1) because we do like Fear Fun, the debut release from J Tillman's Father John Misty project and (2) because guns are about as unavoidable in this one as they were in, say, Jack White and Allison Mosshart's face off in "Treat me Like Your Mother", we'll go with it.
Purgatory Pizza is the name of the establishment in this Grant James-directed clip, as if you couldn't figure that out from the blood on the counter or the pentagram in the pie. Into this Neapolitan version of hell arrives a woman who is presumably the titular Sally, only, she's not wielding a hatchet. Rather, it's one of the more impressive personal arsenala we've seen in some time. Excuse me, have you got a permit for those, ma'am? Sally doesn't seem to much care, as she does justice to Tillman's lyrics about emptying "a few clips" by blowing away targets. All the while, our man Josh chops digits and smokes cigarettes. Got to watch the smoking, my man. Those things'll kill ya.
From Father John Misty's Fear Fun, our NV Music Video of the Day is "This Is Sally Hatchet".
