NV Music Video of the Day: Lower Dens, "Candy"

For each of the music videos from the excellent Nootropics, Lower Dens have gone a little weird. There was Jana Hunter as a ghost in the machine in "Brains", the band as glowing beekeepers in the woods in "Propagation" and now, with the clip for the bright and propulsive track "Candy" they've gone back to nature, for something more lighthearted.

We think. Truth is we're not sure to make of Alan Resnick and Noah Collier's loop and eccentric, only that they seem to have been to a corporate retreat or two in their day. We've been to a couple, but none quite like this. A motley crew of folks, including a couple of moderately extreme drag queens and a kid with a yarmulke atop his awesomely red hair, as well as Jana and Geoff Hunter from the band, engage in trust exercises both indoor (falling, being carried) and outdoor (having your buddy on the safety line as you climb a wall (in high heels, in one case), walk a high wire or zip through the trees in a harnass.

Looks like it was a blast to shoot, so let's not overthink Resnick and Collier's point. But remember: nothing is random in the Lower Dens world, and Nootropics has a lot to say about us crazy members of the human race, as we found in our Face Time conversation earlier in the year. Lower Dens have our NV Music Video of the Day with "Candy".
