NV Music Video of the Day: PUJOL, "Mayday"

One of the most irresistible rave-up tunes of the past year finally has a music video. Daniel Pujol, the pride of Tullahoma, TN (or at least he ought to be...) actually unveiled "Mayday" back in 2010, it's become a live staple since, and for good reason: it's a 3 minute, hit-it-and-quit-it-garage-power-pop rush, and now it's included on the recently released EP Nasty, Brutish and Short. We can't entirely make out the gist of the lyrics, except that it's peppered with the kind of clever turns of phrase that the erudite Pujol seems to toss off in his sleep. (Note the stacks of books in the video: we're guessing they're his) And it delivers the memorable hook line "You're gonna wear that crown all over town/ Like you were the king of May."

Wearing the crown through the majority of the Jo McCaughey-directed clip is Pujol's best bud and fellow Tullahoman Lex Bearden, he of a hipster meme that took off earlier this year and which prompted a highly entertaining article/full throated defense written by Daniel himself for Impose mag, which we encourage you to check out. But not before you check out this flat-out good times video, with the bros playing cards, chess, power eating, praying, and engaging in some knife play.  Oh, and George Washington makes an appearance. What more do you need?

Our NV Music Video of the Day is one that will get your blood pumping and prompt a smile. Guaranteed. Just be careful with those knives. "Mayday", from PUJOL.
