When last we heard from Spiritualized on the music video front, it was "Hey Jane", the mini-movie for the monster lead single from Jason Pierce's latest, superlative album Sweet Heart, Sweet Light.
That clip featured a tough as nails heroine, turning tricks, kicking ass and trying to raise a young son in a brutal environment. Now we're back for more, you might say, in "Little Girl": another tale of a young woman who's been dealt a rough hand. Only this time, the motels and strip malls of "Hey Jane" have been replaced by drab housing blocks and the washed out landscape of post-Soviet Eastern Europe, and her escape of choice is her motorcycle, or more precisely, her checked out dad's motorcycle, which she makes off with.
In the starring role is UK stunt rider Chesca Miles, the video was directed by Vincent Haycock, and Noisey, which premiered the clip last week, reports that "During the course of the three-day shoot, there were only 2 crashes, a wrecked bike, a near-death tank rattle, 12 burnt-out tires, a broken whipped cream charger, and a near arrest after police caught producers filming a high-speed tracking shot on the autobahn into Berlin at 4am." Wild times.
Set to another classic Britpop song from the mind of Jason Pierce, on an album that is crazy full of them, our NV Music Video of the Day is "Little Girl" from Spiritualized.
