Never let it be said Ty Segall, despite the ripe old mid-20's and a pace of releases that puts many artists to shame, is mellowing one bit. His blistering summertime release with the Ty Segall Band, Slaughterhouse confirmed that. And he's just as raw on the visual front, judging from "The Hill" from Segall's third album this year, Twins.
About a 4 on the disturbing scale, the video, directed by Segall and Peter Grimm, imagines a band straight out of a lysergic fever dream. Let's see, there's a ghoulish woman, a massive chicked headed creature on guitar; A magenta-wigged dinosaur, and most memorably a plushie bear who hits the drums, and then the bong, hard.
It all makes for a rather unsettling performance, set to a track from the sweeter, more harmonic psych pop end of the Segall canon. Drop something if you got it, and if you don't got it, this clip should provide you with at least a three-minute trip.
Our NV Music Video of the Day is "The Hill" from Ty Segall.
