OK straight off the top, for those dudes who have gotten spoiled by the tata flash, the hell raising chick and the blonde with the disco ball, and have come to think that an Unknown Mortal Orchestra equals hot girls, well, sorry to disappoint. But the latest from horn dog Ruban Nielson and his band, for the track "Thought Ballune" is rather low on the babe-o-meter. Unless you count overly madeup septuagenarian dames scarfing down magic cupcakes.

The setting is a birthday party in Oddville, USA, and yes, we do mean magic. No sooner are the treats ingested than revelers start losing their heads. Creepy, funny, weird--yep, guilty on all counts. Definitely the lightest of the UMO clips to date, and directed by Jordan Blady and Ryan Knowles.

It was just announced that UMO's already excellent past year will continue with a support slot on the new tour by the incomparable Girls. Hard to beat that bill.
