The Mighty Mogwai Are Back - Write a Review!

As great as their near fifteen years of studio output has been, it’s long been said that the grand sweep of Caledonian post-rockers Mogwai is best appreciated live.  Well, short of getting off your butt and going to see Stuart Braithwaite and clan, here’s your chance.  Special Moves is effectively the soundtrack to Burning – a concert film shot last year by La Blogotheque auteur Vincent Moon and Nat Le Scouarnec at one of our favorite local joints, the Music Hall of Williamsburg. You get dramatic renderings of Mogwai favorites like “I’m Jim Morrison, I’m Dead”, “Cody”, “Hunted By a Freak” and “Like Herod”.

Special Moves has already gotten mostly the thumbs up from people who are paid to cover music, citing not only the way it captures the majesty of a Mogwai show, but also the album’s potential role as an introductory primer on the band for those who have slept on the Glaswegians’ releases to date. So how about you? Whether you’re a Mogwai minnow or maniac, you need to give Special Moves a listen or two, rate it  from 1-10, write a review and see it posted today on Noisevox – your platform for record and concert reviews!
