John Maus does not disappoint. Not on record, not in his frenetic high-energy one-man live shows, and certainly not in interviews, where asking one question after another is like putting balls across the plate in a home run derby, and watching A-Rod, Big Papi, or Josh Hamilton send them flying into the seats.
This summertime chat with John at Brooklyn's Lady Jay covered a lot: from contrasting his Minnesota home to his one time-residence, Hawaii; from two of his more provocative songs "Rights for Gays" and "Cop Killer"; and from the phallic lighthouse on the cover of his album We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves, and his recent sci-fi themed video for "Head For the Country" to his live shows and what after all, is really the meaning of the live concert experience. Call him many things, but you can never call him boring. One of our more thrilling chats of the year was also one of our Top 5 most watched. The inimitable John Maus one more time, on Face Time.
